Dear God, keep your day job.......

I love the theory of Incompetent Design:

Don Wise, professor emeritus of geosciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, is the nation's foremost proponent of ID. No, Wise isn't getting ready to testify on behalf of the school board in Dover, PA. Rather, he advocates for a different version of the acronym: "incompetent design."

Wise cites serious flaws in the systems of the human body as evidence that design in the universe exhibits not an obvious source of, but a sore lack of, intelligence [...]

The thing that perhaps is closest to all of us is our own skeleton, and there are certainly all kinds of stupidity in our design. No self-respecting engineering student would make the kinds of dumb mistakes that are built into us.

All of our pelvises slope forward for convenient knuckle-dragging, like all the other great apes. And the only reason you stand erect is because of this incredible sharp bend at the base of your spine, which is either evolution's way of modifying something or else it's just a design that would flunk a first-year engineering student.

Look at the teeth in your mouth. Basically, most of us have too many teeth for the size of our mouth. Well, is this evolution flattening a mammalian muzzle and jamming it into a face or is it a design that couldn't count accurately above 20?

Look at the bones in your face. They're the same as the other mammals' but they're just squashed and contorted by jamming the jaw into a face with your brain expanding over it, so the potential drainage system in there is so convoluted that no plumber would admit to having done it!
So is this evolution or is this plain stupid design?

Business tells politicians to get in line.....

Read this headline in today's Hotline. It's just one mundane story on a Wednesday, but it should say it all to you: our bought off system of government has become so corrupt, that the barons of Big Business can now brazenly go on record telling lawmakers that they either must sell out their constituents, or be spent into the ground. The sentiment in this article, more than anything, tells you all you need to know about why America's political system often pushes policies vastly different than those supported by the public.

Can you say "Intelligunt Desine"

Nearly half the states flunked a study of statewide science standards for elementary and high schools being released today. The study is the first to review science standards required by the federal No Child Left Behind law.

Hillary wants what everybody else wants.... yawn~

Gov. John Lynch yesterday said potential 2008 Democratic Presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton has privately voiced her support for keeping New Hampshire's first-in-the-nation primary in its traditional role, behind only the Iowa caucus.

She also likes NASCAR and potatoes chips. Just one of the boys...

GOP phone jamming trial begins

A federal prosecutor yesterday described James Tobin as the linchpin in an "evil scheme" to jam Democratic phone banks across New Hampshire on election day in 2002

Why do 60% of Americans hate our troops?

“Almost 60 percent of voters say the U.S. should withdraw its troops from Iraq, with 40 percent who say get out immediately, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today.”

from thinkprogress.org

That's ok, Republicans know how to win elections with 40% or less of the vote.

Real Patriot stomps a mudhole in the Ass of a spineless toady

Lieberman yesterday: “It is time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to acknowledge that he will be commander in chief for three more critical years and that in matters of war we undermine presidential credibility at our nation’s peril.”

Murtha today: “Undermining his credibility? What has he said that would give him credibility?”

from thinkprogress.org

I am beginning to love you flag wavers.

What's another 100 mill between defense contractors....

During his response to President Bush this afternoon, Murtha revealed, for the first time, that the Pentagon will ask for an additional $100 billion for operations in Iraq next year:

MURTHA: Twenty years it’s going to take to settle this thing. The American people is not going to put up with it; can’t afford it. We have spent $277 billion. That’s what’s been appropriated for this operation. We have $50 billion sitting on the table right now in our supplemental, or bridge fund we call it, in the Appropriations Committee. They’re going to ask for another $100 billion next year.

QUESTION: Can we come back to the $100 billion? You said that you expect the military to ask for $100 billion. Where are you getting that figure?

MURTHA: Where I get all my figures: the military.

Murtha has reason to know. He’s the ranking member of the House Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. The total cost of the Iraq war is quickly approaching the cost of Vietnam, which lasted 8 years.

We can always take away the social security from people too poor to pay their school loans...

As if the Bush Administration is accountable to the American people...

58% of Americans want the United States to set a timetable for troop withdrawal from Iraq, according to a new CBS/NYT poll.

Never get between a government and it's money.....

The Supreme Court ruled today that the government can seize a person's Social Security benefits and use them to pay old student loans. Justice Sandra Day O'Connor wrote the decision that went against a disabled man named James Lockhart. The government took 15% of James' benefits to pay his outstanding student loans depite his claim that he needed all of the money to survive. The Bush administration is pleased with the decision becasue outstanding student loans total about $33 billion dollars.

THE LIBERAL PATRIOT PODCAST!!!!

DECEMBER 7th Podcast Online!!

http://joneaston.podomatic.com/

ACTION ALERT!!

Ever since Sen. John McCain's (R-AZ) amendment outlawing torture passed the Senate by an overwhelming margin, the Bush administration has been pulling out all the stops to prevent it from becoming law. Dick Cheney has repeatedly visited Capitol Hill trying to water it down, insisting that at least some government agents should be authorized to torture people. Now the struggle is coming to a head.

More than 23,000 TrueMajority members sent messages opposing U.S. torture, noted military leaders spoke out against it, and a majority of Americans say they disapprove of torturing enemy combatants and terror detainees.1 With all that against them, House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) and other leaders have decided that the only way to kill the torture ban is to smother it quietly, out of sight in a conference committee. DON'T LET THEM.

TELL YOUR CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVE TO DEMAND THAT THE TORTURE BAN BE INCLUDED IN THE HOUSE BILL.

Click here to take action: http://action.truemajority.org/campaign/torturemotion

ACTION ALERT!!

The Endangered Species Act (ESA) is under serious attack and needs your help. A bill that would severely weaken the act was approved by the U.S. House in September. You can help prevent a similar measure from passing in the Senate. The bald eagle, California sea otter, American alligator, gray wolf, black-footed ferret, gray whale, and international species such as the African elephant are on their way back in large part due to the ESA.

The House-passed bill, H.R. 3824, would undermine protections that these and other imperiled species have been afforded under the law for more than 30 years. The bill would reduce the prospects for restoring healthy populations of threatened and endangered plants and animals, repeal current provisions that protect species from the harmful impact of pesticides, weaken the scientific foundation for decision-making, and divert scarce resources away from effective conservation.

»» TAKE ACTION: Learn more and urge your senators to oppose the House-passed bill that would undermine the ESA.

Compassionate Communism

Gov. SEARCH
Jeb Bush
said Tuesday that he was "honored" Cuban President SEARCH
Fidel Castro had referred to him as SEARCH
President Bush's "fat little brother in Florida."

"Forgive me for using the term `fat little brother,'" the Cuban leader said, according to a transcript obtained by The Miami Herald. "It is not a criticism, rather a suggestion that he do some exercises and go on a diet, don't you think? I'm doing this for the gentleman's health."

from yahoo news

First Hugo Chavez helps out with heating oil and now Castro is trying to help Jeb get in shape. Being a communist president is all about the love, baby.

President is a Coward....

“In a sharp break with the [Council on Foreign Relation’s] own traditions, Bush is being allowed to speak — for 50 minutes — then leave without taking any questions. ‘Obviously, we strongly suggested — certainly made the case — that it would be in the interest of the president and in the interest of our membership that the president take questions,’ council vice president for communications Lisa Shields told me this morning. ‘But true to his format, they declined.‘”

from thinkprogress

I was going to say drunken coward, but that would have been over the top. It's one thing to be evil and stupid. But how long is red state america going to support a chicken shit.

"Fuck that Bitch"

Check out this Great Post from georgia10 on pre-fascist Hilary.

Personally I don't think men should be calling women "bitches" [unless they are rappers.] But Georgia10 is a women so it is ok for her to say it.

Lieberman Watch

Fox News Democrat Joe Lieberman is at it again.

Lieberman, whom the Bush administration has praised repeatedly for his war stance, defended the president. "It's time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to acknowledge he'll be commander-in-chief for three more years," the senator said. "We undermine the president's credibility at our nation's peril."

Funny thing is that he thinks he's helping Israel out by supporting this "transformation" in the Middle East, when all this war did was replace a secular dictator with an Iran-style Islamic regime and Iranian ally.

Will, I am think that the problem is that we are not radical enough...

Is there ANYTHING this President can do to get impeached?

Two CIA secret prisons were operating in Eastern Europe until last month when they were shut down following Human Rights Watch reports of their existence in Poland and Romania. Current and former CIA officers speaking to ABC News on the condition of confidentiality say the United States scrambled to get all the suspects off European soil before Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived there today.”

from thinkprogress

Lies, wars, torture, secret prisons, corruption, murder, bribes, male prostitutes, insider trading, treason...... All placidly accepted or ignored by the majority of Americans. What does that flag stand for again?

Maybe it should be legal to burn one, but ONLY under the ass of an American who's ignorance and apathy is a far greater crime than burning a piece of cloth.

The less moral America actually is the more important it is to hang on to the image of being moral. If America really embodied the great qualities we portend, we could not possibly feel threaten by flag burning.

But we NEED to raise that flag and hold that bible up so everyone can see. Without the flag and the bible and reassuring lies. We would have nothing to prevent us from being ashamed of what we have become and what we have allowed to happen.

Time to protect the flag while we kidnap, torture, and kill innocent people. Time to bring prayer back in school while our schools crumble. Time to outlaw abortion and contraception while our healthcare system collapses. Time to outlaw gay marriage while "straight" marriages are torn apart by poverity.

When morality is lost, there is ritual.
Ritual is the husk of true faith,
the beginning of chaos. -
Tao Te Ching

Guess this means she is running for president.... {sigh}

Clinton is co-sponsoring a bill that would make it a crime to destroy a flag on federal property, intimidate anyone by burning a flag or burning someone else's flag.

A spokesperson for the Senator says Clinton supports making flag burning a crime....

from newsday

Flag Burning is one of those unsavory rights. Most Americans don't support it, but it is a right that should be protected. It is the HEIGHT of cynical politicking to use this issue this way. Clinton is showing that she is enough of a whore to be president.

And by that I meant no offense to sex workers. A much more honorable trade than that practiced by many politicians in Washington.

CRACK WATCH: Get Ready for the Sleeze!

I guess the folks who run the new Hotline blog just have bawdier minds than I do. Or, really, that can't be it. So I guess I was just too focused on the CIA material in yesterday's San Diego Union-Tribune piece on the relationship between Duke Cunningham and uber-contracts-grifter Brent Wilkes to notice this brief passage ...

Wilkes befriended other legislators, too. He ran a hospitality suite, with several bedrooms, in Washington – first in the Watergate Hotel and then in the Westin Grand near Capitol Hill.

Boy, that's good stuff. After all, what possible need could congressmen and senators and their staffers have for access to private hotel suites near the Capitol registered in someone else's name? What was this, the private dancer annex of Signatures?

from Talking Points Memo

This will actually be covered [recovered and over covered] in the mainstream media, unlike all the other scandals, because it is about sex.

My question is. If they had these free suites to us, how come Jeff Gannon-Guckard was spending the night at the white house? I guess some "services" take longer than others.

Idiot actually WANTS higher property taxes.

KILLINGTON, Vt. - A Vermont lawmaker is preparing to introduce legislation that would bring before his colleagues the proposal to have Killington become a part of New Hampshire.

I have to admit that I didn't even bother to read this article. The guy may have a point. I am just assuming that it is on the top of his head. Cynicism is killing me.

Judge Not Least Ye Be A Judge

Weare, N.H. ? Logan Clements, the California activist who has proposed building a hotel on land owned by Supreme Court Justice David Souter, has announced plans for a rally in early January in Weare.

from stateline.org

Come on guy. Supreme Court justices don't intent that the laws actually apply to them. If that was the case Clarence Thomas would have never be allowed to law school in the first place. It's all about power.

I think a better job would be, presidential FLUFFER!

Great place to live... I just wouldn't want to live there....

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Several high-profile Republicans attracting presidential buzz are scheduled to visit New Hampshire this month as a Democratic commission considers changing the 2008 primary calendar, possibly diluting the state's first-in-the-nation status.

DAMN RIGHT!!!! Republicans WANT NH to stay as the first in the nation primary. So do NH Democrats and they don't care HOW MUCH it hurts national politics.

from stateline.org [did I say thanks, Will]

Hello... hello... hello... hello... is there anybody out there?

More than half of the states expect to face higher costs next year when the federal government begins paying prescription drug costs for 6.4 million elderly people whose pharmacy bills had been paid in part by the states. States had hoped the 2003 Medicare reform law would save them money, but now fear newly required payments to Washington DC will swamp savings. Kentucky has announced plans to sue over the required payments, and other states could soon follow suit.

North Country people just don't give a shit....

DUH!

DOVER, N.H. - A report says New Hampshire hasn't spent state money received from tobacco settlements on smoking prevention.

If people stopped smoking [and drinking] we would have to raise the property tax, add more gambling... or add a NON-View tax.

Reminds me of a bumper sticker I saw... you like NH, thank a republican.

Medicaid.... like medicare... but without the caring...

Seniors applying for publicly funded nursing home beds will be screened more closely next year as part of a state plan to save money .....

NH gets revenue on the backs on the poor and elderly.... and they cut services too.... Dun dun dun Duuuuun! The poor and elderly....
