Barbaric Yawp

Sometimes I wish it wish it wasn't one person one vote, I wish it was one IQ point one vote.

A better way of voting.

I wrote a blerb in the Liberal Patriot news letter this month about the Instant Runoff Voting. It is a synonym to the Ranked Choice Voting that Zo Tobi writes about, and will be commentating on for a talk radio show today. "A Better Way of Voting" can be found on the DFNH site and it is something that will probably be difficult to push through the protective Righty mis-managed legislature. ( I will sponsor/propose/support this voting option if elected) Ranked Choice Voting, as Mr. Tobi reveals;
"Whether you vote, don't vote, sit at work or sit in political office, you've probably felt at some point or another that politicians on both sides of the aisle think too much about money and their own careers and not enough about the people they are elected to represent..."

Case it point with our current system of plurality voting and what it means...
"It means majority rule is out the window. It means that fair representation is a joke, and that too many of our independent-minded citizens don't vote or even consider running for office. When the fundamental principles of our democracy are taken away, it's no mystery people give up on politics. This is not what our Founding Fathers had in mind."

"...if your first choice doesn't get enough votes to win, your vote can go to your second choice instead of being thrown away..."

Check out the talk show on, WSCA, 106.1FM, Portsmouth Community Radio's "Left, Right and Correct" with host Dan Belforti + Friends.

As much as I remind you 11 regular yet dwindling readership of this blogo of truth, RISE UP, GET ACTIVE and DEMAND your voice be heard, your vote be counted and your elected officials are accountable to you. Although many members of our present legislative body will not have heard of this option, (or tell you it is "ITL") that is growing in popularity, this Instant Runoff Voting/Ranked Choice Voting system is certainly one way to change our loppsided system for the advantage of We the People... It's all about you. Take back your Government. I'll see you in the mid-terms.

Even a lame duck president is right once in a while.... not this one.

George Bush:

We are fighting these terrorists with our military in Afghanistan and Iraq and beyond so we do not have to face them in the streets of our own cities.

Four London Blasts Kill 40, Injure 350

AP - 1 minute ago

LONDON - Four blasts rocked the London subway and tore open a packed double-decker bus during the morning rush hour Thursday, sending bloodied victims fleeing in the worst attack on London since World War II. At least 40 people were killed, U.S. officials said, and more than 390 wounded in the terror attacks.

This is the end of Blair. He drug his nation into America's dirty illegal war and now they have really paid the price for it.

Want an example of a media whore look no further then Judith Miller of the so called "liberal" NY Times.

New York Times reporter Judith Miller was sent to jail Wednesday after a federal judge declared that she was "defying the law" for refusing to divulge the name of a confidential government source in the outting of undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame. Matthew Cooper of Time magazine, was spared after announcing a last-minute deal with a confidential source that he said would allow him to testify before a grand jury. We speak with New York Times Op-Ed columnist Bob Herbert.

From Democracy Now! Listen/Watch/Read here:

As Al Franken said perhaps Judith will find those WMD's in her cell. I believe she belongs behind bars but not for covering up for a white house source that outed an undercover CIA agent. She deserves to be in prison for being a major source of leading America into an illegal war just to advance her own career. I only wish they would send her to one of those really intense State Prisons.

Conservatives in Congress are looking for new ways to deprive individuals of their due process rights. The Streamlined Procedures Act of 2005 "would limit the ability of defendants facing the death sentence to have cases reviewed by federal courts in habeas corpus appeals."

Religion from a Progressive Christian

I found this on my A.M. web surf and it looks familiar to me as to the article Terri Jones gave us at one of my last "officially affiliated" Dems meetings. (Terri and Dan Jones are 2 of the hardest working troopers and bright lights in the Dems party I have seen) Anyhooo, I got the link from one of my faves DFNH and I quote from Dr. Robin Meyers, the article's author, in part...
"Tonight, I join ranks of those who are angry, because I have watched as the faith I love has been taken over by fundamentalists who claim to speak for Jesus, but whose actions are anything but Christian..."

Read the article here and try to figure where some people get their views of Faith and Religion and governemnt. As I've said before, too many narrow minded, short sighted, obdurate thinking minds buying and running our government. RISE UP!!!

Budman Ward to be charged

The Littleton Righty State Representative, John Ward, whom "allegedly" furnished brewskies for his underaged bimbettes, will appear in court tomorrow after already pleading innocent to anything relating to breaking the law. The non-Union Leader has the sordid details and it is interesting to see that Johnnies daddy, Littleton landshark Brien Ward, former State Representative, will be the mouth piece for young master Ward. Yeah, community service at the State House on his gumment time and a speach to highschool kids. Hard time on the Rock.

From the Leader...
State Rep. John L. Ward, 21, was charged April 22 with prohibited sales after he allegedly bought beer for Margaret Calvert of Newbury, who was 20 at the time.
Calvert pleaded guilty May 19 to the violation of transporting an alcoholic beverage by a minor and was fined $180 in connection with the incident.
Police say Ward bought Calvert a 20-pack of Bud Light the night of April 21 at Scorpio's Provisions, a Madbury Road convenience store near campus.

I wonder if chivalry will prevail and our young Budman will at least covertly pay the fine for the smitten damsel? NAH!!! There is no class in the Righty platform of future agenda.

Party on Budman Ward!!! See you in court!!!

Daily Outrage

Former administration propagandist Armstrong Williams continues to prove his incompetence. In a 4th of July column, Williams not only misattributes a quote to President Abraham Lincoln but also dates the statement ten years past the assassination of Honest Abe.

More wisdom from HAL

I wish I could have met this guy Hal Melcher. DFNH has another of his notes and he ends this one with a very insightful plea to voters...

"...{T}he voters must rise in their own defence against the tyranny of those who would say, with one breath, “Al Quaeda will strike again any time” and with another, “Trust us. Though we are taking your liberty safeguards down, we can’t protect you otherwise.”
Trust nobody with that message.

Letters from Hal at DFNH Enjoy.

Same Sex marriage sanctioned by UCC

This weekend the United Church of Christ held its congress and rules making convention and overwhelmingly voted to sanction same sex marriage. Yeah...HUGE. The UCC is the biggest Christian denominational church to make such a non-binding resolution to promote Civil Rights for same sex couples. Some info can be found at the UCC website and you will find the AP report here . Clearly, another inflammatory non-issue is being taken away from the Righty bigots and the equality for all that is espoused in the US and States Constitutions will finally be realized soon.

Next, the "full faith and credit clause" will no doubt meet with some impending litigation at the highest court in the land. But that is another story for a future post...

How do you tell if BUSH is lying....Karl Rove's lips are moving.

"Polls? You know, if a President tries to govern based upon polls, you're kind of like a dog chasing your tail. I don't think you can make good, sound decisions based upon polls. And I don't think the American people want a President who relies upon polls and focus groups to make decisions for the American people."
-- President Bush, 4/28/05

"[The] president's full-speed-ahead message articulated in this week's prime-time address also reflects a purposeful strategy based on extensive study of public opinion about how to maintain support for a costly and problem-plagued military mission. The White House recently brought onto its staff one of the nation's top academic experts on public opinion during wartime, whose studies are now helping Bush craft his message two years into a war with no easy end in sight."
-- Washington Post, 6/30/05

Daily Outrage

About 26,000 Americans left messages on the Web site Bush mentioned in his speech Tuesday night. But according to the Wall Street Journal, two notes which dared to question the war have mysteriously "disappeared."

More PORK...yummy

This one slipped under my bacon-o- meter. Just keep in mind as you're reading it that Reagan was the guy that "put a lid on spending" and Bush 43 tries to emulate the Reagan example in every way possible. Clearly as we have seen in the Bush/Cheney co-presidency, there isn't a spending bill they don't like and have yet to veto any portion of one of these Righty pork projects. Remember Newt in the 90's and his new C-130 aircraft building debacle for his district? Oink!!!

A look at one of my favorite lines of the Citizens Against Government Waste press release;
In 1991, the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act (ISTEA) contained few special-interest projects and cost taxpayers only $151 billion. So far this year, TEA-LU contains 3,700 projects worth more than $12 billion. That amount includes only earmarks added by the House, while the Senate has yet to dip its hands into the federal cookie jar.

That trend parallels the overall explosion in pork-barrel spending. In 1991, Citizens Against Government Waste identified 546 pork-barrel projects costing $3.1 billion in the 13 appropriations bills, while in 2005 the total is 13,997 projects costing taxpayers $27.3 billion.

Read this late coming story here and although this bill is already a done dealio, pass this on to your fiscally responsible tax and spend Righty elected officials and colleagues. They might find it interesting and informative since most of them have no clue what the DeMint bill or PTSD are, this could prove very educational for them. Tragic.
