Rosa Parks dies
The Mercury News
DETROIT - Rosa Lee Parks, whose refusal to give up her bus seat to a white man sparked the modern civil rights movement, died Monday. She was 92.
Go now in peace, Sister Rosa - may the spirit of love surround you

I hope the media will today at least acknowledge her as the activist she was and not just as a tired black lady that did want to get up.
I heard a great piece on NHPR about her this morning. She did an interview with NPR about 20 years ago that was excellent. What many people don't realize, is that her actions were part of a planned campaign to challenge the law.
For those who have not seen the "Eyes on the Prize" documentary series about the Civil Rights movement - I can't recommend it strongly enough. My favorite part of the series is the Montgomery bus boycott episode - a triumph of grassroots organizing. It's amazingly powerful
