Who is paying the price.....

The U.S. National Guard and Reserves have been especially hard hit by the ongoing war in Iraq. These troops, traditionally used sparingly in overseas conflicts are now overburdened, and, according to AP, are “suffering a strikingly higher share of U.S. casualties in Iraq.”

Consider:

10 percent: Guard and Reserve casualty rate in the Spring 2003, between the invasion and “Mission Accomplished.”

20 percent: Guard and Reserve casualty rate for 2004.

36 percent: Guard and Reserve casualty rate for the first nine months of 2005.

56 percent: Casualty rate for August and September 2005.
