Local Legislator to address 4th leading cause of Death.
A New Hampshire lawmaker wants hospitals to report their infection rates.
Rep. Leo Pepino, R-Manchester, said his wife was in and out of hospitals until she died six months ago from cancer.
He said the hospital trips were not always because of the cancer. He said she also had to fight off infections she picked up while in hospitals.
Pepino wants patients to know hospitals' infection rates in the future. He's filed legislation to require them to report on the issue.
Hospital infections [Unrelated for the original aliment!] are now the fourth leading cause of death in the United States, behind heart disease, cancer and strokes, according to the CDC.
